DISCOVERY CLUB

Only 1 week until our Adventure with God in Discovery Club kicks off!  If you still would like to register your kids, we’d love to have them!

If you signed up to donate supplies or didn’t and want to help, you may donate magazines for our first club meeting.  We need them by the morning of Sunday, September 7^th.  There is a box in the foyer labeled “Club Magazines”.  Thank you Supply   Donator Volunteers!

If you signed up to donate snacks or didn’t and want to help, please choose a date or two on the sign-up sheet that will be located on the video cabinet.  Let’s plan for 15 kids and I will contact you if we need more.  Thank you Snack Provider Volunteers!

Beginning this Sunday, September 7^th  . . . . A new Sunday School Class for Young Adults

          This class is for those who have just graduated from high school to young adults.  The class will meet in the balcony at 10:10 AM.  Come be a part of this new class.

PASTORAL EVALUATION FORMS TO BE HANDED OUT

          The Pastoral Relations Committee will be handing out these forms this Sunday, September 7th and on September 14th. Please take time to fill out this form and place it in the box on the video cabinet by Sunday, September 21st.

          Your feedback is very important to us. It will help the leaders of our church in the decision making for the coming years.

          Friday, September 5^th at 9:15 AM  Margaret Newkirk and Lisa Bowman will be sharing the upcoming events and happenings at Lewis Creek Baptist Church on Chamber Chat. This radio program spotlights members of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

          We hope everyone will try to catch this program. It will be on WSVX radio... 1520 on the AM dial or 96.5 on the FM.

          The church softball team will play 2 games Sunday, September 14 at 1:30 PM. They will play Bradley UMC on diamond 2 at the Blue River Park .     

          The team will begin their tourney play September 21 with the 2:45 PM game.

Indians Baseball Game was a winner!  Thanks to Jack Miller for setting it all up.  We had a great time, nice weather and an enjoyable game!

          Myra Crosby (organ) and Peggy Risley (piano) played a beautiful inspiring duet for special music last Sunday in 1st Worship! Thanks!

          Well it’s that time of year again.  Keep the Nominating Committee in your prayers as they prayerfully decide and recruit nominees for Church leadership positions for 2009.  When one of them asks you please take the time to pray and ask the Lord what He wants you to do.

Communion Bread

          The Deacons will be trying out home-made unleavened bread for Communion this coming Sunday, Sept. 7.  At the request of the Deacons, Mindy Bunch will be preparing this for us to try.

Membership Sunday, Oct. 5

          Maybe you are one of many in our church who has thought about becoming a member, but for one reason or another just haven’t take that step.

          Thank you very much for the Wal-Mart gift card and especially thank you for praying for Landon and our family while we were in the hospital at major and Riley. The prayers were so helpful. He is doing better, but please still keep him in your prayers because we really don’t know what the treatment for the birthmark under his vocal chords will be. Right now the medicine is working. Thanks to great doctors and lots of prayers. Thank you all so much!

The Pregnancy Care Center's Annual Walk for Life is Saturday, September 13th. Registration begins at 8:30 am inside the city circle parking lot. The walk begins at 9:00 am.  With the issues at hand during the upcoming election we need to take a stand for LIFE and make our voices heard. We will walk to Sunset Park and back. It will only take about an hour. If you would like to become a sponsored walker, forms are on magazine table or contact PCC at 398-4567. Come walk with us. Please come support the PCC, but more importantly come and celebrate the Sanctity of Human Life and the fact that God created you in His image.

ATTENTION MEN!

          The Flat Rock Men’s Association will meet Tuesday, September 9th at Pleasant View Baptist Church . Dinner: 5:30-7:00 PM. The menu is meatballs & BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cole slaw and pie for dessert. Cost is $3.00. Entertainment by the Soggy Bottom Boys from Mt. Pisgah . Business meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.
